Matt Corral, a quarterback of Mexican origin, signed with the Minnesota Vikings to play in the 2024 NFL season.

"We have signed quarterback Matt Corral and placed JJ McCarthy on injured reserve," the Vikings said in a statement.

McCarthy tore the meniscus in his right knee, an injury that required surgery, and will have to sit out the 2024 season.

Although the opportunity to be the main passer opens up for Sam Darnold, formerly of the San Francisco 49ers.

Corral is 25 years old and his journey in the NFL began after being selected in the third round of the 2022 Draft by the Carolina Panthers.
