FIFA Sets Rules for 2025 Club World Cup in the USA

The formation of the pots will be based on sporting and geographical considerations, the details of which will be shared.

The clubs will be divided into 8 groups of 4 teams each. It is not yet known which MLS and Liga MX clubs will share the pot.

Article 31 states that there can be 15 substitutes in each game. This is similar to what happens in the World Cups for national teams.

Clubs will be able to make changes to the final list to replace players whose contracts expire during the tournament.

A maximum of two new players may be added to the final list, which will not count towards the maximum of 35 players.
