MLB Coach of the Year: Vogt wins AL award, Murphy takes NL prize

Pat Murphy of the Milwaukee Brewers and Stephen Vogt of the Cleveland Guardians won the Coach of the Year award for the 2024 MLB season.

Murphy, in the National League, and Vogt, in the American, were chosen through the vote by the members of the Association of BBWAA.

In the election, Murphy beat Mike Shildt of the San Diego Padres and Venezuelan Carlos Mendoza of the New York Mets.

Also, Vogt beat Matt Quatraro of the Kansas City Royals and A.J. Hinch, of the Detroit Tigers, who were left as finalists.

Murphy managed to lift the confidence of the Brewers to lead them to the conquest of the Central Division of the old circuit.

Vogt signed outstanding marks in his first year as Major League coach, leading the Guardians back to the postseason.

He was the fastest coach to win this distinction after retiring as a player, as just two years ago he played on the MLB grounds.
