Saying New York Yankees is synonymous with baseball. It is about character, integrity, discipline, and professionalism. Whoever wears the uniform of this team knows that they are obliged to give their all on the field in search of victory.

Despite not having appeared in a Major League Baseball World Series since the 2009 season, the Yankees remain the most successful baseball franchise of all time.

Since they began their careers in the American League in 1903, they have won 18 Eastern Division titles, 42 American League titles, and 7 World Series.

Between 1903 and 1912 this team was called the New York Highlanders and played in Hilltop Park on Broadway, Manhattan.

In 1913 they moved to the Polo Ground Stadium and that was when they began to be called the New York Yankees.

In 1923, the stadium moved from the Polo Ground to the new Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. Eighty-five years later (2008), it was decided to demolish this stadium to build a larger, safer, more modern facility, which opened in 2009.

Because of their two headquarters in different neighborhoods of the city, the Yankees were given the nicknames “Manhattan Mules” and “Bronx Bombers.”

His fame and greatness began when on December 26, 1919, the management of this team agreed with the Boston Red Sox to acquire Babe Ruth, the so-called “Sultan of the Stake.”

First Base: Lou Gehrig. Other players in this position are Don Mattingly and Roger Maris.

Second Base: Tony Lazzeri. Other players: Willie Randolph and Joe Gordon.

Third Base: Alex Rodriguez. Other players: Graig Nettles and Bob Meusel.

Shortpie: Derek Jeter. Other players: Phil Rizzuto.

Left Field: Babe Ruth. Note: We placed Ruth in this position because he played there 1,047 games. This leaves room for Aaron Judge to occupy the right field. Other players: Earle Combs.

Center Outfielder: Mickey Mantle. Joe DiMaggio and Bernie Williams are other players.

Right Field: Aaron Judge. Other players: Paul O’Neill.

Catcher: Yogi Berra. Other players: Jorge Posada and Bill Dickey.

Designated Hitter: Dave Winfield. Other hitters: Jason Giambi, Reggie Jackson, Alfonso Soriano, Hideki Matsui, and Tino Martinez. But none of these five players played the eight seasons established as the rule for our selection. (Giambi 7, Jackson 5, Soriano 7, Matsui 7 and Martinez 7).

Seven Pitchers: Whitey Ford, CC Sabathia, Andy Pettite, Mike Mussina, Ron Guidry, Roger Clemens and Mariano Rivera (reliever). Other pitchers: David Cone, Aroldis Chapman, and Orlando Hernandez. But none of them reached eight seasons with the Yankees. (Cone 6, Chapman 7, and Hernandez 6).

Most Successful Managers In Yankees History

1 – Casey Stengel: 1949-60. Record with the Yankees 1,149-696 (.623). Won 10 American League championships and seven World Series titles.

2- Joe McCarthy: 1931-1946. Record with the Yankees 1,460-867 (.627). Won eight American League titles and seven World Series. Nicknamed “MarseJoe.” Elected to the Hall of Fame in 1957.

3- Joe Torre: 1996-2007. Record with the Yankees 1,173-767 (.605). Won six American League championships and four World Series titles.

4- Miller Hugging: 1918-1929. Record with the Yankees 1,067-719 (.597). Won three World Series and six American League championships. Hugging was Elected to the Hall of Fame in 1964.

5- Billy Martin: 1975-79, 1983-1985, 1988. Record with the Yankees: 556-385 (.591). He won a World Series and two American League championships. They called him “Billyball.”
