Lionel Messi’s story with Inter Miami is far from over next season and both the club and the representatives of the Argentine player are working to extend their stay in the pink team.

According to several sources, a new contract is being negotiated for Leo to renew with Inter until after the 2026 World Cup.

This contract extension makes a lot of sense, as the Miami team plans to open its new stadium at Miami Freedom Park at the beginning of the 2026 season and Messi would be its biggest attraction, in addition to preparing to play the 2026 World Cup, to be held in the United States jointly with Mexico and Canada.

Although he has not confirmed it, no one doubts that Leo will play in the 2026 World Cup, where he will defend the championship crown obtained in Qatar 2022. Currently Argentina is first in the ranking with 25 points, 5 more than Uruguay that goes second and it is very likely that in the next date it will already seal its passport to the magnificent appointment.

Messi is very comfortable in the team, enjoying the goodness of South Florida and although he has said nothing about his future, both he and his family are delighted at the Capital of the Sun club and its surroundings.

In addition to playing at least another year with Inter is something that in a way owes to fans, especially those who paid season tickets at high prices.

It has transcended that negotiations for this new contract are already underway and that Inter is making an effort to have the 37-year-old Argentine star for one more year.

The arrival of coach Javier Mascherano and the renewal of Luis Suárez reinforce the club’s commitment to Leo and his contract extension wins whole, even until 2027.

It’s not a secret. Inter Miami co-owner Jorge Mas has also publicly stated that he expects Messi to stay at the club after his contract expires next year and that he hopes to strengthen the team to win the entire next season 2025.

Next year Inter hopes to win the MLS Cup, the Concacaf Champions Cup and successfully participate in the Club World Cup, to which he was invited by FIFA as a U.S. representative after conquering the Supporters Shield with record points in the regular season.

“We have the ability to bring in extraordinary players, to improve the staff and we’re going to do that,” Mas said. There will be changes in the Inter Miami staff without a doubt.

Messi, in addition to having tripled the winnings he has shown on the court that he remains the best player in the world, contributing last season 20 goals and 10 assists in 19 games.

Having Messi on the field is not only a great economic claim for the club but also a huge incentive in sports, even if it is only 50 percent of the games.

There has been speculation that Messi could retire in Barcelona or Rosario with the Newells, but everything indicates that he will do so in Miami with Inter, yet he dedicated a few words to Bara for his 125th anniversary.

Is it a pride to be a fan of Barcelona? “It’s a special, different club,” Leo said. I miss the club, the city, the people, the darling.

Now it only goes for Inter to make it official soon because when the river rings, water brings.
