Since the start of Euro 2024, which is being held in Germany, Portugal’s star striker, Cristiano Ronaldo, has been the protagonist of several episodes alongside fans who managed to evade security personnel to be able to get up close and personal with their greatest idol. From the first date of the group stage where Portugal had to face the Czech Republic until the last match against Georgia, the videos of fans who did everything possible to reach the Portuguese multiplied.

While a few fulfilled their mission and received a hug and a selfie or a personal greeting from the former Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus player, others were rejected. However, there was one that surprised even the footballer himself during the final duel of the group stage against Georgia.

This fan was at another level of risk

In a video that immediately went viral on social media, you could see the moment in which a fan jumped into the void to try to approach Cristiano Ronaldo, who was about to go down the stairs to head straight towards the stadium dressing rooms. In the video, the Portuguese saw the fan fall in front of him and opened his arms without finding an explanation for what had just happened in front of his eyes.

At the moment the state of health of the fan in question is unknown, who threw himself with his legs forward and who, if it were not for the stadium security personnel, could have culminated in a tragedy by falling on top of Cristiano himself.

“He’s crazy, it almost fell on him,” warned a user after seeing the video on social networks. “This is already getting out of hand,” was the opinion of another, while a third wrote: “The security person deserves a bonus of at least 50,000 euros.”

Historical Cristiano Ronaldo

It should be remembered that the current Euro Cup being held in Germany could be the last for the Portuguese star, who at 39 years old is playing in his sixth continental tournament, after doing so for the first time in 2004 and having lifted it in 2016.

The fans’ feelings and love for Cristiano Ronaldo are so great that even in the match they played against Turkey, up to 6 fans managed to evade the security personnel to run directly towards him at Signal Iduna Park. Although the first person who approached got his wish fulfilled (a child asked for a selfie), the rest could not meet their goal.

Clash with a fan that could have ended worse

However, the most striking and dangerous event occurred when one of the security agents who was trying to stop a fan after the game with Turkey slipped and finally ended up colliding violently with Gonçalo Ramos, the national team’s forward. Ramos, 23 years old, who added his first minutes in the Portuguese match against the Georgians by replacing CR7, had fallen to the ground and suffered an obvious ailment after the impact.

Roberto Martinez, coach of the Portuguese national team, had words about it for the media: “We are aware of the situation. It is a complicated moment because it breaks the concentration of the players, despite the security present.”

The path now for Portugal will be to face the round of 16 as first in its group despite losing with a score of 2 goals to 0 against Georgia with goals from Kvicha Kvaratskhelia and Georges Mikautadze. On July 1, the Portuguese will face Slovenia at the Deutsche Bank Park, while the Georgians will face the Spanish team a day before at the Rhein Energie Stadium.
