The British Lando Norris won his first race in Formula 1 this Sunday. He became the winner of the Miami Grand Prix after giving a great demonstration on the track that allowed him to beat none other than Max Verstappen.

The McLaren team driver, who had started in fifth position, benefited from the entry of a safety car to enter the pits without losing first place when the 3-time world champion was lying in waiting for the right moment to move into first place.

24 years old Lando Norris took control of the race on lap 29 and did not lose it until he crossed the finish line ahead of the Dutchman from Red Bull, who was left off the top of the podium for the second time this season after his retirement at the Australian Grand Prix due to mechanical problems.

“It was time for my first victory. I am very proud. The whole weekend has been good and although we have had some setbacks that prevented us from progressing, I knew we had the pace,” commented the McLaren team driver who has been climbing this 2024 F1 season.

The British driver got on the podium after the first two tests with third place in Australia, achieved second place in China, and now first place in Miami, becoming the 114th driver to win a Grand Prix in the history of Formula 1.

Behind Lando Norris and Max Verstappen came the driver of the Ferrari team. Charles Leclerc, completed a great race although he gave up a little ground after taking second place in the standings. The Monegasque climbed onto the podium this season for the third time.

Fourth place went to his teammate, the Spanish Carlos Sainz Jr., while fifth place went to Red Bull’s Mexican, Sergio “Checo” Pérez, who for the second time in 2024 finished in that position.

Another who had a good race was the British Mercedes driver, Lewis Hamilton, who climbed several positions during the race until finishing in sixth place. His teammate and also British, George Russel, came in eighth place in the Miami Grand Prix.

The top 10 positions in the sixth race of the season were completed by the Japanese Yuki Tsunoda of Visa Cash App RB, who finished seventh, the Spanish Fernando Alonso of Aston Martin who was ninth, and the Frenchman Esteban Ocon of the Alpine team who crossed the finish line, in the tenth position.
